Meet OEM Parts Specialist, Kelly Lanigan

The third installment in our series of ‘meet the parts team’ focuses on Kelly Lanigan.  Kelly is based out of our General Parts Group Kansas City branch, which is one of the busiest Will-Call counters of our 29 locations. Kelly assists many of our walk-in customers in finding the correct food service equipment parts they need.  On top of this, Kelly also answers, inputs orders, and responds to electronic mail, phew!

Kelly came to General Parts 28 years ago, firstly as a technician before transitioning to the parts team. Kelly’s field knowledge has been very beneficial in his position as a Parts Specialist, and he has never looked back since joining the food service equipment parts team.  Kelly enjoys hunting for the correct part when a customer is having difficulties finding what they need.  Kelly believes the secret to his longevity with General Parts is teamwork and the company treats him very well.  He enjoys working with the parts team, service, and the corporate employees all housed within the Kansas City branch.

Kelly’s pro-tip for customers is – if you cannot find a model or serial number for your equipment, take a picture of what you need and where it is installed in the unit.  This will allow a parts specialist to narrow down choices and increase the likely hood of getting the correct part.  A picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to restaurant equipment.

Outside of General Parts, Kelly is an avid fisherman and hunter.  He loves to ride his 2004 Harley Electra Glide.  He volunteers as a Shriner and uses his motorcycle in his duties as a motor coach escort.  He gets to lead the procession of the Grand Poohbah and competes in national titles for the Shriners in bike tricks.  Kelly performs high-speed precision maneuvers with other riders to see who the best is.  However, it’s the money that is raised that goes directly to the children’s hospital that he enjoys the most.  Now that you know a bit about Kelly make sure you say hello next time you are at the will-call counter.
